What if?

A few weeks ago, I sat across from my stepsons and said out loud the question that had been quietly haunting me: “What if no one comes?” The youngest looked at me and, without missing a beat, said: “What if they all come?”

Well. There’s that.

When was the last time you asked yourself “what if” in your yoga practice?

What if I can’t? What if I look foolish? What if I’m not good enough? What if everyone else knows what they’re doing?

We’re quick to let “what if” introduce us to everything that could go wrong. But what if we assumed the best?

What if I can? What if I’m stronger than I think? What if I love it?

The next time “what if” shows up, on your mat or off, try assuming the best.

What is community?

In a yoga studio, it is more than the connection between teacher and student. It is the connection from student to student, and from each of us to the shared values that guide our choices and lives. C
